Premier League 2016-17: Season Begins With a Few Surprises

The 2016-17 Premier League season started today and fans can’t wait to see how it goes. The transfer period has been so interesting and a lot has changed in just a few months. Today, a few teams played and there were a few surprises.

The early surprise of one of the first games of the season happened in the Hull City – Leicester City game. The current Premier League champions began with a 2-1 loss. Swansea City and West Brom started the season with three points after winning against Burnley and Crystal Palace.

Manchester City also began the season with three points but the win wasn’t convincing. Pep Guardiola won his match thanks to a late own goal. Sergio Aguero scored from the penalty spot early in the game. The 2-1 win wasn’t impressive but three points is always a good start for any team.

The games between Middlesbrough – Stoke City, Everton – Tottenham, Southampton – Watford all finished 1-1.  Tomorrow, there will be three matches: Bournemouth – Manchester United, Chelsea – West Ham and Arsenal – Liverpool.

Manchester United made a world-record move by bringing back Paul Pogba for £89 million. They also have Jose Mourinho as their new manager. The club didn’t qualify for this year’s Champions League but the big signings make them one of the favorites for the Premier League title.

Chelsea, Liverpool, Tottenham and Arsenal have all made moves and will also be part of the title race.
