Luis Suarez Honoured With Unflattering Statue In Hometown


Remember the bizarre Cristiano Ronaldo statue unveiled in his home town, Madeira, back in 2014? Well, Barcelona forward Luis Suarez has triumphed in the battle of the statues.

Ronaldo’s statue was mocked for being overly generous in the shorts department but Suarez’s statue has been mocked for it’s overall appearance.

People have branded the statue ‘ugly’, with many claiming that it looks nothing like the Uruguayan international.

Sculptor Alberto Morales Saravia admitted that he had gone off pictures from the internet to sculpt Suarez.

Suarez isn’t the only Barcelona player to have been ‘honoured’ with a statue.

Shortly after announcing his retirement from international football, a Lionel Messi statue was unveiled in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
