A few years ago, phones with keyboards were really popular. But times change and now, phones don’t have physical keyboards. BlackBerry has made a few changes recently but it had not made an announcement on its classic smartphone. Now, the company is making more changes, moving from the physical keyboard to glass. The phones had lost some popularity these last few years and the news aren’t surprising to some.

BlackBerry’s Classic smartphone was once very popular but according to them, it has long surpassed the average lifespan for a smartphone. BlackBerry has sold million of phones throughout the years but the popularity of its smartphones has been sinking for quite some time now. The announcement comes just days after it was revealed that the U.S. Senate would make the switch from BlackBerry to Android and iOS smartphones.

The BlackBerry Classic smartphone was unveiled in 2014 and arrived with the BlackBerry 10 operating system. The phone was similar to the Q10 and featured the trackpad and a keyboard. The phone did not sell well, according to reports. But it did receive good reviews from a few tech sites.

The company had 41 percent of the U.S. market share just six years ago but it has declined ever since. The strong competition has been one of the few reasons that they have lost popularity. Last year, the company announced the Priv, a phone with Android 5.1 Lollipop. This was the first phone to not have their operating system.

The BlackBerry Classic smartphone was released less than two years ago but it is no longer part of the lineup. But that doesn’t mean more phones will not be released, rumors say the company is working on three new Android smartphones. Its first Android smartphone is not selling well, according to reports. But if the latest rumors are true, we could see three more Android-powered smartphones.

There will be no more tactile keys from BlackBerry but it looks like the company is planning to regain some of its popularity by making big changes. What is your favorite BlackBerry phone? What would you like to see from their Android smartphones? Let us know in the comments.
